"Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our
irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place."
-Mark Twain
There's a reason New York is the media capital of the world and it's not just
because everything that is important or worth mentioning happens here. It's
because of our press. The quality of our newspapers, television shows,
radio programs, is simply amazing and that is a perfect reflection of the
people they serve.
However, in order to maintain the top spot and continue to be the best, New
York's Reporters often work long hours, endure fierce deadlines, and
constantly put their reputations on the line with every written word and every
televised second. Just when they didn't need an additional challenge, a
selected few each year rally the courage to get on stage and make the
masses laugh.
Each reporter has their own professional comedy mentor who works with
them to prepare for the big night. A featured show on the New York
Underground Comedy Festival, the first New York's Funniest Reporter show
took place on Sept. 27th, 2006 at Gotham Comedy Club to a sold out
crowd. The New York Post's Mandy Stadtmiller was declared the winner at
the end of the night. On October 3rd, 2007, Sean McCarthy from the New
York Daily News emerged as the new champion.
Right now the question on the world's mind isn't who will win the 2008
Presidential Election - it's simply who will emerge as this year's funniest
reporter! Find out the answer at the 3rd Annual New York's Funniest
Reporter show taking place on October 5th, 2008 at Gotham Comedy Club!
